FileInize — Privacy Policy

FileInize is a macOS application made by [Licensor], Sweden. This policy explains what information the app handles and where it goes. The short version: everything stays on your Mac.

What the app does with your files

FileInize shows, plays, organises and analyses files on your Mac and on volumes connected to it. To do this it reads file names, sizes, dates, media metadata (such as artist, album, duration and tempo) and, for the storage dashboard, keeps a local index of what is on your disk.

All of this happens on your computer. The app never uploads your files, file names, metadata or index anywhere.

What is stored on your Mac

• Preferences, favourites, shelves and collections are stored in the app's preferences (~/Library/Preferences).
• The storage index and daily storage history are cached in ~/Library/Application Support/FileInize so the dashboard does not have to rescan the disk each launch.
• Your license key and activation identifier (paid version) are stored in the macOS Keychain.
• Your sign-in session (if you create an account) is stored in the macOS Keychain. No password exists: you sign in with a one-time code sent by email.

Deleting the app and these folders removes everything the app has stored.

Permissions

macOS asks for your permission before FileInize can read your Desktop, Documents, Downloads or removable volumes. You can grant or revoke access at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Files and Folders. The app does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, location or any other personal data.

Network access

The app makes no network connections except the three below, all of which you control:

1. Update checks. If automatic updates are enabled, the app periodically contacts our update server to ask whether a newer version exists. The request contains the app's version and your macOS version so the right update can be offered. No system profile, device identifier or personal information is sent. You can turn update checks off in the app's settings.
2. License activation. When you enter a license key, the app sends the key and a name for this Mac to Lemon Squeezy, our payment and licensing provider, to activate and periodically validate the license. Lemon Squeezy's handling of this data is described in their privacy policy at https://www.lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.
3. Account and settings sync. Creating an account is optional. If you sign in, your email address and a small set of preferences (appearance, view and sort defaults, search rules, dashboard layout and thresholds) are stored with your account so that your other Macs can apply them. Nothing about your files is included: no file names, folder paths, index, history, collections or shelves. The data is hosted by Supabase, our database provider; their privacy policy is at https://supabase.com/privacy. Signing out stops the sync. You can delete your account and everything stored with it by contacting [contact email].

Analytics and tracking

None. The app contains no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, advertising or tracking of any kind.

Purchases

Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, LLC, which acts as merchant of record. Your payment details are handled by Lemon Squeezy and never reach us or the app. We receive your email address and order details in order to deliver your license key and provide support.

Children

FileInize is a general-purpose utility not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at the same address with a new date. Changes that affect what data the app handles will be described in the release notes of the version that introduces them.
